Trip Highlights

The Accommodation

Nestled in the heart of Torres del Paine National Park, EcoCamp Patagonia offers a unique and sustainable lodging experience that blends comfort with immersion in nature. Staying in its signature geodesic domes, inspired by the ancient dwellings of the region’s indigenous Kawésqar people, allows you to sleep under a blanket of stars while surrounded by breathtaking mountain vistas. Each dome is thoughtfully designed with cozy bedding, insulated walls, and skylight windows that invite the natural beauty of Patagonia inside.

You can choose from a range of accommodations, from standard domes for a rustic, close-to-nature experience to luxury suites with private bathrooms and wood-burning stoves.

The camp’s commitment to sustainability is evident in its eco-friendly infrastructure, which relies on renewable energy and minimizes environmental impact. After a day of adventure, relax in the welcoming communal spaces, enjoy delicious locally inspired meals, and share stories with fellow travelers—all while immersed in one of the world’s most awe-inspiring landscapes.

The Location

Considered by some as the “Eighth Wonder of the World”, Torres del Paine is a 700 square mile National Park near the southern tip of Chile in the Patagonia region famous for its’ towering granite peaks, mountain lakes, ice blue glaciers, and river valleys. It’s one of the largest and most visited parks in Chile.

The Mountains

There are several unique and beautiful major mountains that make up the Paine Massif in the park, the most iconic being the three jagged granite towers. Paine means blue in native language; Torres means towers. The three towers rise up to 2800m / 9200’ above sea level and are named Torre Sur, Torre Central, and Torre Norte. The high point in the park is Paine Grande at 3050m / 10,000 feet.

The Glaciers

Patagonia is full of massive, icy glaciers, with the main attraction on our adventure being the Grey Glacier at 270 square km / 104 square miles. The Patagonian Southern Ice Field is the second largest ice field in the world.

The Lakes

There are many large glacial lakes within Torres del Paine, with many having a strong turquoise color due to glacial erosion and deposits. We’ll be visiting both large and small lakes including Grey Lake, which is fed by the Grey Glacier, Sarmiento Lake, Pehoe Lake, and Laguna Azul.
